He remains focused on the fact the side can perform strongly for a half at a time. Indeed, were it not for missed chances they would have been greater than 1-0 up. “There were positives except the fact that we didn't take a second goal,” he said. “I acknowledge that we lost, but I must remain balanced.

“The performance we had at certain moments was of top quality. This is the reality. And I would not say that if it was untrue. But that’s why, when it comes to wins, I noted it's a repeating pattern. For that reason I feel we are nearly there to getting it right. But for the moment: small things.”

“I saw many, many good things that we did, as was the case today. The issue now it’s about performing for 90 minutes. My outlook would change the same. That’s why I firmly believe we’re going to be able to turn things around.”

Opposition Reaction Outlook

The victorious boss refused to contemplate a title charge even after what felt like a statement victory. “Step by step, and we can really build up momentum,” he said. “The faith in the group is immense.”
