Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's natural for concerns to be asked about his future after another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in twelve games, representing the club's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received significant support from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He added, “I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to expand on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard conversations we have I perceive the belief. However I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Problems and Player Reaction

Slot lamented recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a period of this nature with results like these.”

He concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to its rightful place, prove once more the values of this club and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and it needs to change.”
