Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Until that point, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, lying 36 points behind Norris, was classified in P17 as his team opted for a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, if briefly, when he lost control at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the exit kerbs before rotating through the run-off area, and was fortunate to avoid just a minor contact of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho corner before the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran ended the session in 19th place, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619secs off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
