Iran Reports Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the US has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with notable success and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.
Officials reported wreckage landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
