The tenth week once more provided excitement, with a major surprise for the Buffalo Bills proving the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' saying that attracts so many fans into the National Football League
This outcome may have opened things up for the Patriots to move back into a top spot they formerly held, with a schedule that provides them an advantage over their eight and two rivals
Over in the National Football Conference the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had perfect results to arrange a major confrontation next week, while our top performer is chasing records as well as the Most Valuable Player award
The Breakdown - Just a Bad Day for Buffalo?
Was it just an emotional letdown from beating the Chiefs the previous week or something more? This remains the question for the Bills to address
The Bills had won seven in a consecutive games against Miami but were second best from the beginning as the Miami team emerged as 30-13 winners in an eye-opening result - and performance
MVP Josh Allen only got the squad's opening first down in the third period and first points in the fourth - yes the Dolphins had ten days to get ready but it was nonetheless a massive egg produced by one of the league's best offenses
Tua Tagovailoa threw two scores but rusher De'Von Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 combined yards and two scores
Bottling up the league's best running game was also key, with James Cook and teammates recording just 86 yards, their lowest of the season and just over fifty percent their 161.5 yard average
Then there were the three crucial turnovers, and the two from Allen in particular. An interception in the end zone resulting in a nine minute possession yielded no points, and his final quarter dropped ball that the Dolphins turned into a touchdown just two plays
It was typical 'old Buffalo' as they shot themselves in the foot, falling into a hole on defense and Josh Allen trying to overcompensate to dig his team from the situation - not the calm, controlled, well-balanced Buffalo team we've seen this season
Miami have served up a bit of everything this year so the jury's out on if this is the beginning of a trend, but for Buffalo they'll need an instant response in a tough game against the Buccaneers in week 11 as the Patriots are sneaking into a nice lead at the top of the AFC East
Spotlight - Patriots See Path to Unexpected First Place
Speaking of the Patriots, they're among three eight and two squads in the league, all American Football Conference teams, but could they be the best?
You can pick holes in New England, the Broncos and Indianapolis actually for feasting on the lesser sides, with just five of their total twenty-four victories achieved against teams with a winning record - and one of those was the Colts beating the Broncos
Denver defeated the reigning champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are kings of the fourth-quarter while Indy can ride Jonathan Taylor, but the New England including Sunday's victory in Tampa to their primtime success in Orchard Park seems like a statement
Their two defeats occurred in recently appointed coach Vrabel's first three contests, with seven straight wins, just like the Broncos, since then - but taking down Mayfield after the Bucs had a week off to get ready was significant
Maye's Most Valuable Player credentials won't go away, and he definitely deserves point for bravery after taking some savage hits in Tampa but hanging in there to steer his team to victory
The defensive unit is reliable and first-year rusher Henderson burst onto the scene on Sunday with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating scores of 55 and 69 yards - establishing himself as just the fifth different ball carrier to break 22mph this year on his initial touchdown
While you can argue who 'the top team' is statistically, the Pats should be favorites to end with the best record due to their remaining opponents - which features just one game against a successful opponent, albeit a significant contest against Buffalo
Visiting the Ravens is also tough, but the Broncos have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Kansas City to face two times, the Los Angeles Chargers (who could also challenge for first place but encounter the same problem) and additionally the Packers on the fixture list
The Colts also play the Kansas City, and have the Seattle, 49ers and two matchups with the five and four Jaguars to face. There's a long way to go but the opportunity is available for a surprise number one position in the AFC
Next Week - Los Angeles and Seattle Prepare for Week 11 Clash
Two teams with strong arguments to be better than all of the three eight and two sides are NFC West rivals the Seahawks and Rams, who both scored forty points to go to seven and two ahead of next week's major game between the pair in LA
They've both won four in a consecutive games, have signal callers in Matthew Stafford and Sam Darnold performing at an high standard (although Darnold had turnover issues on Sunday) with top receivers, and defenses allowing fewer than twenty points a game
Both could realistically be undefeated as well - especially the Los Angeles as their two defeats occurred in extra time against the San Francisco and then that painful defeat in Philly when they had a potentially winning field goal with the final play blocked and returned by the Philadelphia for a score
The Seahawks were also defeated to San Francisco, with a late touchdown in the opening week, before losing to the last kick of the game against the Tampa Bay - so they're genuinely among the best sides in the league
The upcoming game on Sunday could be the most exciting of the year to date
Player of the Week - Jonathan Taylor
Jonathan Taylor could be on for a historic year after his remarkable performance in Berlin - rushing for 244 rushing yards, scoring three touchdowns and adding another forty-two {receiving yards
