Actor Denies Anti-Vaxxer Views After Narrating Contentious Coronavirus Film

The "Taken" star has given his narration to a feature-length documentary that questions the safety of vaccines and commends former health official the political figure.

The Documentary's Provocative Foundation

Called "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is based on a bestselling book published by a controversial scientist, who became famous during the pandemic for allegations that the illness was caused by a faulty batch of the influenza shot.

The book's writing partner, the executive producer, has previously authored books with far-right figure the Infowars host. The producer recently posted hailing Neeson's involvement in the documentary.

A Strong Rebuttal

The team of Neeson have provided a statement pushing back against implications that he supports anti-vax sentiments.

"Everyone can understand that unethical practices might be present within the medical sector, but that cannot be equated to being against vaccines," the comment explains. "Neeson has never been, and cannot be described as, anti-vax. His considerable work with Unicef highlights his enduring support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."

The response continued that the star had no hand in the project's narrative and that questions about its content ought to go to the filmmakers.

Major Claims Within the Film

In the film, the narration provided by Neeson features several provocative claims:

  • It states that pro-vaccine voices have called for "blind obedience" to public institutions.
  • It posits that "research has become deeply politicized."
  • Kennedy is shown claiming, "The big problem with vaccines is that they simply are not adequately tested."
  • The film also criticizes pandemic restrictions, arguing they caused mental anguish that resulted in thousands of lives.
  • Regarding pandemic shots, it mentions a view that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "dangerous experiments."

Historical Background and Current Issues

It also references a past television report about HIV drug testing on children, which was subsequently the focus of a correction by the corporation for editorial breaches.

In recent weeks, Kennedy directed the national health agency to revise its official position that there is no causal relationship between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This assertion is echoed in the film, even with a fresh analysis from the global health body stating no connection has been found.

An Earlier Position of Advocacy

Contrasting the film's message, Neeson has previously voiced firm endorsement for vaccines in his capacity as a Unicef global ambassador.

In 2022, he referred to vaccines as "a remarkable achievement," stating that "The debate about vaccines in lately has lost sight of how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in history."

"Plague of Corruption" concludes with Neeson's voice saying, "This isn't the end of our journey. Rather, it is the beginning of a different phase."
